Congratulations to our Collaborative Doctoral Award student, Dr Rob Leedham!
Rob was formally awarded his PhD last month after studying under the joint supervision of Oxford Archaeology North (OA North) and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Rob used finds from the Carlisle Northern Development Route to understand changing lithic technology within the region over the crucial Mesolithic/Neolithic transition. This was a fantastic experience for both UCLan and OA North and we feel a great example of positive collaboration between the commercial and academic sectors, and an example of the great relationship between us. Subsequent to his PhD, OA North have also gained a fantastic colleague in Rob who is now an integral part of the OA North team investigating a similar period at Windy Harbour on the A585 north of Blackpool. We hope Rob enjoyed the experience as much as us, although he may need a little time to get over it, and we wish him many happy years with us and hopefully more exciting projects like CNDR and Windy Harbour!
