28th September 2020:
Three remarkable burials from a recently excavated medieval cemetery in Ipswich are the subject of an episode of the latest series of Channel 4’s Bone Detectives.
The burials were among some 1400 individuals buried in the medieval cemetery of St Augustine’s Church in Stoke Quay, which was just part of a site investigated by Oxford Archaeology in partnership with Pre-Construct Archaeology and PCA ahead of development by ISG Construction for Genesis Housing.
The cemetery dates between the late 9th/10th and the late 15th century. The Bone Detectives looked at three individuals from the early, middle and late phases of burial activity, and revealed fascinating insights into their origins and lives, as well as some gruesome details about their deaths.
The episode is available to watch via All 4. Click the link or the image of the Bone Detectives below to find out more.
