15th March 2017:
For nearly 30 years Oxford Archaeology (OA) has worked with Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) on over 100 archaeological and historic buildings projects at Hampton Court Palace. A recent project with which OA was involved has proved to be especially successful, having won two awards
In 2016, a multi-disciplinary team that included OA, architects, principal contractors, and conservation specialists, won the RICS (London) Project of the Year and Conservation Project of the Year for HRP’s multi-phase scheme to protect, conserve, enhance and rejuvenate Base Court.
And last week, the project was recognised again with the award of Civic Trust AABC Conservation Project Commendation. This was received by Martin Ashley Architects, which led the team.
The glitzy awards ceremony at Winchester Guildhall was a very grand affair and a wonderful way to celebrate the success of the project.
