The achievements of the organisations which carried out archaeological work along the route of High Speed 1 between St Pancras International, London, and the Channel Tunnel are celebrated in Tracks and Traces: the archaeology of High Speed 1. Highlights from OA South include a 400,000 year old elephant in the Ebbsfleet valley, a Neolithic long-house at White Horse Stone, Aylesford, Bronze Age ring-ditches and an Iron Age enclosure at Beechbrook Wood, Westwell, Roman villas at Northfleet and Thurnham, a Roman cemetery in Southfleet, and an Anglo-Saxon watermill at Northfleet.
